Meet the Author

Hey, I’m Katie! I’ve always been a writer.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve used words to make sense of the world— to document the moments that changed me, to ask questions I didn’t yet know how to answer, and to find meaning in experiences I couldn’t always understand while I was living them.

I’ve kept journals for decades. When I began writing this book, I returned to nearly 20 of them— along with therapy notes, photographs, emails, text messages, & conversations— to trace the story of how I became who I am today.

What I found was not a story about villains or saints.

It was a story about human beings: complicated, imperfect, ever-evolving people carrying their own histories and doing the best they could with the tools they had at the time.

And it was a story about me.

About a girl who learned to silence herself in order to feel safe, and the woman who eventually found her voice and learned to listen.

My writing explores the places where fear, faith, identity, love, loss, trauma, and healing intersect. I’m interested in the beliefs we inherit, the questions we carry, and what happens when we become brave enough to examine them for ourselves.

I’m also deeply interested in what comes next.

Because healing, I've learned, isn't about becoming a finished version of yourself. It’s about becoming an active participant in your own life— continuing to question, grow, stretch, surrender, and choose again.

That’s where “The Reconstructing” Podcast comes in.

Today, I’m building a life that feels increasingly like my own.

A life with room for work and rest, growth and play. A life that makes space for both certainty and mystery. A life rooted in the belief that multiple things can be true at once, and that we don't have to understand everything in order to move forward.

I believe there is something sacred in that mystery— whether you call it God, Spirit, the universe, intuition, or simply the quiet voice within that knows more than we sometimes give it credit for…

I’m learning to trust that voice.

I’m learning to live with less fear and a lot more freedom.

And I’m still becoming.

This book is part of that becoming.

It is a story of a life lived with tender ferocity— and an invitation to anyone who has ever wondered what might be waiting for them on the other side of fear.

I'm so glad you're here.
